Can stress cause infertility?
Infertility is a disorder of the reproductive system. It is not caused by stress, although being unable to conceive can be a major source of stress for infertile couples. Simply relaxing does not cure infertility or any other physical illness. Fertility problems can be very emotional and it is important to recognize that medical treatment and emotional support is readily available.

Does treatment for infertility involve "high-tech" experimental procedures?
There are many procedures available to treat infertility that are highly effective and may be simple depending on the specific problem. Infertility is sometimes caused by hormonal problems and medications may be prescribed to regulate the release of these hormones or to replace hormones that the body produces naturally. Advanced reproductive procedures, like in-vitro fertilization, have been used with success for well over a decade and are necessary only in a small percentage of cases.

How do I know if I have an infertility problem?
Infertility is the inability to conceive a child after one year of unprotected intercourse. You might also be diagnosed as infertile if you've never been able to carry a pregnancy resulting in a live birth. Infertility can be caused by many different factors. It's important to diagnose the reason for the infertility so that appropriate treatment can be planned.

How do I know if I should see an infertility specialist?
If you have not conceived after at least a year of trying, have a history of irregular menstrual cycles, pelvic infection, endometriosis, 3 or more miscarriages, are over 35 years of age, or your partner has an abnormal semen analysis, it is probably time to consult a specialist.

How can I make an appointment?
Appointments can be made by calling the office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Tuesdays when we close at noon. We also close between noon and 1 p.m. for lunch. If you get our voice mail indicating that the office is closed or that all phone lines are busy, please leave a message with your name and phone number and we will call you back to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Do I need a referral to come to your office?
Most HMO plans do require a referral every time you see a specialist. Referrals are usually obtained from your primary care physician. If you are unsure whether you need a referral or not, call the member services number listed on your insurance card and ask them if a referral is necessary and how it should be handled.

What payment will be I be expected to make at the time of my visit?
Our office is a provider for most major insurance companies and we will be glad to file claims for you. You will be expected to pay any applicable co-payments or non-covered services at the time service is rendered. If we are not a provider for your insurance plan, you must pay for services in full when you are seen. We will file a claim for you and instruct the insurance company to send any reimbursements due directly to you.

What services are available on weekends or holidays?
We do not provide routine services on weekends or holidays. However, for emergencies, patients who are on infertility medications requiring ultrasound monitoring, or patients due for insemination or in vitro fertilization, there is always a physician or other staff member on call. Our answering service can be reached 7 days a week, 24-hours a day at(727)786-0282. Explain the situation and ask them to
